Summer Reading August 14th Second Post
Of the choices on the list I specifically chose this book because of the author, Walter Dean Myers is one of my favorite authors. I have read several of his books including, Sunrise Over Fallujah, Fallen Angels, and more. He puts a lot of great detail into his writing. The title of this book drew my attention as well as knowing the author and his works also drew my attention. I didn't see many connections between myself and the novel. The only connections that I saw where that we were both in out teenage years and facing many problems. I personally would recommend this book to people who are in there teenage years and are facing problems with the law or just problems of their own. I would also recommend this book to people who are maybe going into filming school because this book is setup like a movie and it taught me how to portray certain scenes. Since Steve Harmon wanted to be a movie producer, his trial was setup like if he made a movie that's how it would look like. The last group of people I would like to recommend this book to are people who are going into Law School or people just interested in learning about how the court system works.

Summer Reading August 14th First Post
"The best time to cry is at night, when the lights are out and someone is being beaten up and screaming for help. That way even if you sniffle a little they won't hear you. If anybody knows that you are crying, they'll start talking about it and soon it'll be your turn to get beat up when the lights go out. There is a mirror over the steel sink in my cell. It's six inches high, and scratched with the names of some guys who were here before me. When I look into the small rectangle, I see a face looking back at me but I don't recognize it. It doesn't look like me. I couldn't have changed that much in a few months. I wonder if I will look like myself when the trial is over (Myers 2%)."
This section of the book was in the beginning of the book. It gives the reader a sense of what he is going through and what he is feeling as he sits in his cell. He does not see himself when he is in his cell he sees somebody that's not him or what he is like. This section also hooks the reader into reading more about his story of the trial and the process of seeing if he was guilty or not.
